I Awake – Exoticas – I Awake Remix (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Features, Psychill, Psychill Features, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“A hypnotic psychill journey which steps into ritual dub grooves, tickles you with mid range synth bliss and layered with lush reverbs and harmonies of spiritual mysteries. ”

-Nagamag.com

Exoticas is the lead single of I Awake & Less new album "Tabula Rasa". An album grown from a collaborative idea of making two versions using the same stems, I Awake providing the downtempo/neo-ambient flavour, and Less the upbeat club-tracks. This downtempo soundscape journey is the perfect soundtrack for the well tuned ear, a blend between synthesizers and foley all written, produced and mixed for a horizontal experience.

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

Nibana:
There is no "fit all" description as I'm producing quite a lot of diverse genres but most likely chillout and downtempo, some psybient, some bass music and glitch ... I like using the more generic genre electronic or electronica. I've produced some heavy psytrance for a bit, but I didn't stick to it after I released my album.

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Nibana:
I'm quite a newcomer in the electronic music genre even tho I've been producing it for a few years (about 8 now). I was mostly raised on my dad's hard rock playlist, 80s music and then fell in love with the metal scene. I've been a metalhead for most of my music journey, listening to the darker genres of it (hence my . My first approach to electronic music and the genres I produce now has been while playing video games (one of my biggest passion), and later during my first raves in France. I then got frustrated to not be able to tweak what I heard and decided to start my own music project. It then grew to an unexpected size and I've been able to tour all around the world and collaborate with my heroes whom many became my friends.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Nibana:
Honestly my entire childhood was filled with music. Both my parents enjoyed it a lot, despite no being musicians, and I've always been highly emotionally struck from movies' scoring to my parents playlist. I started playing guitar as soon as I could and it led me here. I was never planing to become a full time musician (I'm more of a science guy) but seeing my project get bigger motivated me to quit everything for it.

Nagamag:
Most artists have a favorite song from a different music genre than the one they are producing music for... Which is yours?

Nibana:
Départe "Wither"

Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which track from a similar artist you admire?

Maiia
Interview

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

Maiia:
Psychedelic chillout

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Maiia:
I'm in love with the music from early ages - when i was twelve, i studied to play a bass guitar and became a part of heavy metal band. My first steps in music production were based just on self-education - all that i could learn reading the tutorials, forums and watching the videos. Being an adult i went to study the music theory in one of the rock-schools in Moscow, and the borders of the musical Universe expanded for me. Since that time i'm experimenting with different time signatures and tonality in my music. Music is the main landmark of my life, so in 2014 i founded the psychedelic chillout label Mystic Sound Records which became the base for develoment of many talented music producers all over the world. I continue my personal musical career as well, producing music for my two project - downtempo and Goa trance. I've just released the new album of my chillout project "Maiia - Love Is The Answer".

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Maiia:
My musical taste was evolving with time and switched to electronic music in 2005 when i visited Goa for the first time. I was enchanted by the mystery of psychedelic music. The same year i started to play chillout music as a DJ and one year after I tried to produce my own music. I was so excited by this process that I was dedicating all my free time to read the music making tutorials, set up my first project studio and released the first EP "Forest Magic" in 2008.

Nagamag:
Most artists have a favorite song from a different music genre than the one they are producing music for... Which is yours?

Maiia:
A Perfect Circle Judith

Gagarin circled the Earth for 1 hour and 48 minutes aboard the Vostok 1 spacecraft.
Eguana delivers us his new space ambient chill album inspired from that fact and his unique magic touch.

Mystic Sound Records – Maiia – Love Is The Answer
(Bandcamp)

Enjoy a fascinating ride on the swing of love presented by swiping and melodic rhythms. The sound is rich: with the diversity of instruments and the uplifting kick. A flute and a funky guitar, shaky arabesques, romantic synths – Maiia is striking again with the experiments. It gets rough and straightforward at some point, but that’s why we love swinging!
