Holy Molly – Shot a friend (Spotify)

“"Shot a friend" is the ultimate dancing anthem from a passionate artist. We really enjoyed that silvery voice and catchy Electro Pop loops. Fat beat, spacious effects and elusive pads also build the ideal background sound. Highly recommended work.”

-Nagamag.com

“Shot A Friend” came out completely out of nowhere on a rainy day in the studio. Because it was so sudden, I don’t think any of us thought of a storyline, we simply let the inspiration guide us through all sorts of deep feelings such as betrayal, guilt, love, pain, forgiveness, obsession and everything in between. As per usual, I got some inspiration from all my personal experiences, you guys know I do that a lot in my songs.

It’s about how you can fall in love so deeply and unexpectedly that you’re not able to realize that the one you fell in love with is your best friend’s lover.

I’m glad to be able to express my feelings in a different way and this is what “Shot A Friend” gave me: the opportunity to have a different mood on my music, to unleash Maria out of Holy Molly and to let her talk on this song. So here it is, enjoy!

She had her first video at the age 13, becoming a pop sensation in her country. Her strong collaborations with LIZOT, Alex Parker, Cosmo & Skoro and Shanguy, made her music included in significant Spotify playlists, Main Stage, SLAP !, Dance Bandeau, Bangers, Power Hour. “Twinkle Twinkle”, had amazing performances in Poland, airplaying in both major radios and musical TV channels. Moreover, the track peaked at #27 in Top 200 Romania, entered EDM DANCE TOP 100 on Deezer and TikTok Dance 2021 on Apple Music. While doing her own songwriting, she compliments her sensual and feminin voice. Keep close as there are more surprises coming your way from Holy Molly!

Nagamag:
Which are the genres that describe your music style better?

Estella Dawn:
Pop/Indie/Neo Soul/Electronic/Adult alternative are probably the main genres I write in. I've never been particularly worried about sticking to one genre, what I'm feeling and what I've been listening to impacts the music I make on any given day, I like to roll with that, Sometimes it's rock/pop other days it's laid back indie, you might not enjoy every song I've written but there's a wide range of styles so something might just tickle your fancy.

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Estella Dawn:
I began classical piano lessons at the age of 9, picked up the guitar a little later, around 13 and started writing more structured songs at that point. Banging away on the keys or strumming the three guitar chords I knew, it really just grew from there. Now I write in my own studio, using Logic. Recording software has helped me to expand my style and flesh out what I hear in my head. Having the ability to create beats and full song instrumentation has made a huge difference in where my songs are now, I've released 12 original songs in 2020/21.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Estella Dawn:
I can't say that there's any specific moment in my childhood that I can attribute my love of music to, it's something I've always just gravitated to. I used to make up songs from a really young age and I was always just drawn to music related activities. Songwriting has become my way to reflect on and process the world and my experiences within it.

Nagamag:
Do you prefer studio or performing live and why?

Estella Dawn:
I enjoy both! However I am definitely more comfortable in the studio. It's easier to nail a vocal take when I'm not also trying to control my nerves. I've always been a pretty shy gal so I find my throat and voice do funny things when I'm performing live. I just have to work around it when I put my set together, I'll start out with easier songs and save the big belting numbers for later on. That being said, there's truly nothing like being on stage, you feel so close and connected to everyone listening, you also get to set the tone and create a mood. I think there's something incredibly special about live music, ultimately it's an experience shared between the people there that night and the performer. The show will be different, every crowd will react differently, every song will be sung/played a little different, you can't recreate that, it's like a snowflake.

Nagamag:
Who would you consider your main musical influences?

Estella Dawn:
Musically I have always been drawn to songwriters with interesting lyrics, or singers with strong vocal performances. Ultimately songs that make you feel something. I would say I draw inspiration from songwriters like Halsey, Jaymes Young and Dermot Kennedy. I also really love that artists like Billie and
Finneas Eilish created such interesting and original music from their house. That they made every creative decision from the songwriting itself to the production and everything in between is incredibly inspiring. I also really admire artists like Sam Cooke, Etta James, Julie London, Ella Fitzgerald, their songs just hit you in all of the right places. It's timeless music and you can't beat the emotion they pour into their singing.

Nagamag:
Many artists listen to genres that they are not producing music for. Which track is your favorite that is NOT similar to yours?

Estella Dawn:
Redbone "Come and Get Your Love"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which is the track from a similar artist you admire?

Estella Dawn:
Dermot Kennedy ‘Power Over Me’

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

4am Kru:
4am Kru grew from a love of old school jungle, hardcore & early 90s rave. We take inspiration from all sorts of music, from R&B slow jams to 80s film soundtracks. Our favourite Jungle tunes from back in the day often reinterpret great bits of existing music in homage & we like to do the same! From the beginning there's always been so much variety within the framework of the 94' Jungle sound.

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

4am Kru:
4am Kru is a duo at the core, plus a number of talented collaborative artists. Howie & Stu are at the production helm. We both met years ago touring in different bands, cutting our teeth in the London live scene. Jungle is the point where our tastes intersect & we started 4am Kru to bring that sound to the stage & feature some incredibly gifted artists we've met along the way.
Right now we’re working with super talented singer Layla Sibelle, and continue to work with superb vocalist SHANTÉH. There’s a whole extended family of artists who are part of our writing and live performance crew and we're excited to take 4am Kru to the stage.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

4am Kru:
Howie: When I was a kid I remember being given jungle mix tapes that had been passed down from some older kids we knew, they were actually going to these raves, whereas I was too young. These tapes featured Shy FX, DJ Rap + all the gold from early Lucky Spin and Kemet releases. At the time I was learning to play bass guitar; then suddenly Jungle entered my world and it changed my whole thought process. It really pushed me in so many ways and still does.
Stu: I'm the same, some '92 hardcore tapes made their way to me when I was a kid and I remember listening while playing with my Star Wars toys in the bath and being blown away by this music I knew nothing about other than it just sounded otherworldly and cool.

Nagamag:
Most artists have a favorite song from a different music genre than the one they are producing music for... Which is yours?

4am Kru:
Paul Giovanni "Corn Rigs"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which track from a similar artist you admire?

-Nagamag.com

After billions of views and a series of monumental performances, 14-year-old Los Angeles-based, critically acclaimed vocalist, Angelina Jordan releases her official debut single “Million Miles” today.

Get it HERE via Republic Records. https://angelinajordan.lnk.to/MillionMilesPR

Produced by GRAMMY® Award-winning production duo Stargate [Beyoncé, Sam Smith, Rihanna] and written by Angelina, the track highlights her expansive range above delicate piano. She immediately captivates with a jaw-dropping vocal performance well beyond her years and open-hearted lyrics.

“Million Miles” is about losing someone you really love,” she explains. “This song is very personal to me, because I had never felt the feeling of losing someone before I wrote this.”

“Million Miles” sets the stage for Angelina’s highly anticipated label debut. The young artist first skyrocketed to international fame when she won Norway’s Got Talent at 8-years-old. Labels and producers feverishly sought her out, but Angelina chose to take the time to find the right sound for her music and further hone her songwriting talent.

“I knew I wanted something bigger,” she admits. “I didn’t want to jump into it until I felt I was ready.”

Along the way, GRAMMY® Award-winning production duo Stargate [Beyoncé, Sam Smith, Rihanna] reached out to Angelina, and they initiated a fervent creative partnership together. She continued to write lyrics, compose on piano and guitar, and record. Catching the attention of Republic Records, she inked a deal with the label in 2020.

The breadth of Angelina’s soulful and deep alto vocal delivery showcases a rare class of musical aptitude that you would attribute to an old soul, and legendary talent, well beyond her years.

Angelina Jordan has all the makings of a breakthrough star and is one to watch.

A musical prodigy, Angelina Jordan sang for the first time at barely a year old, and she never stopped. The Los Angeles-based 14-year-old singer and songwriter amplified her voice around the globe, racking up over half-a-billion YouTube views, just shy of 2 billion Facebook views, and praise from Time, CNN, The BBC, and People. Along the way, she performed for world leaders at some of the most influential events in Europe, appeared on European and North American television, and quietly enraptured a growing fan base. She graced the stage of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony and delivered an emotionally charged rendition of “What A Wonderful World.” A year later, she wowed an audience at Brilliant Minds in Stockholm. Touching down in Seoul during 2017, she joined a powerhouse bill alongside PSY and Norah Jones in front of 40,000 people at Muse In City Festival. Quincy Jones personally invited her to perform at his 85th birthday at London’s O2 Arena. Catching the attention of Republic Records, she inked a deal with the label in 2020. Now, she formally introduces herself with the debut single “Million Miles.”

111 – See You Again (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Electronica, Features, Songwriter Features, The Latest, Top Music Discoveries|Tags: , , , , |

Nadja, Singer & Songwriter of 111, wrote 'See you again' for her best friend who passed when she was 18 years old. At that time she had no emotional tools to deal with the overwhelming pain and it almost tore her apart. Because of all the pain, for a long time she wasn't really able to feel the deep, beyond-lifetime connection between him and her. Now she does feel it and from this exact place comes this song!

Few words about 111:

With 111, Nadja and her producer pick up the idea of 'healing music' with its scientifically proven benefits and translating it into a new sound aesthetic for a wider audience: No eso -cliché, but a fresh, organic ambient -electro-sound that gives the listener a feeling of relaxation and warmth. A lot of the songs are presented in 432 hz instead of the usual 440 hz pop-songs are presented in. Studies prove, that this frequency has more relaxing and empowering effects because it matches the natural vibration of the human body. 111 combines instruments from different musical traditions which are known for their touching and relaxing sounds, for example the monochord. The lyrics sometimes embed mantras from different religions which are known for their strengthening and healing effects, and are always positive and empowering.

With their new approach and understanding of ‚healing music‘, 111 brings together artists from all genres and all over the world, who also believe in the positive effects of rhythm, sound and voice! For example, for their song ‚protected‘ Nadja worked together with award-winning L.A.-based producer Robot Koch, with whom she also wrote the newest track 'See you again'. The successful Berlin-based producer-duo 'Dasmo & Mania' didi the production!

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

Nibana:
There is no "fit all" description as I'm producing quite a lot of diverse genres but most likely chillout and downtempo, some psybient, some bass music and glitch ... I like using the more generic genre electronic or electronica. I've produced some heavy psytrance for a bit, but I didn't stick to it after I released my album.

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Nibana:
I'm quite a newcomer in the electronic music genre even tho I've been producing it for a few years (about 8 now). I was mostly raised on my dad's hard rock playlist, 80s music and then fell in love with the metal scene. I've been a metalhead for most of my music journey, listening to the darker genres of it (hence my . My first approach to electronic music and the genres I produce now has been while playing video games (one of my biggest passion), and later during my first raves in France. I then got frustrated to not be able to tweak what I heard and decided to start my own music project. It then grew to an unexpected size and I've been able to tour all around the world and collaborate with my heroes whom many became my friends.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Nibana:
Honestly my entire childhood was filled with music. Both my parents enjoyed it a lot, despite no being musicians, and I've always been highly emotionally struck from movies' scoring to my parents playlist. I started playing guitar as soon as I could and it led me here. I was never planing to become a full time musician (I'm more of a science guy) but seeing my project get bigger motivated me to quit everything for it.

Nagamag:
Most artists have a favorite song from a different music genre than the one they are producing music for... Which is yours?

Nibana:
Départe "Wither"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which track from a similar artist you admire?
