“The special, mysterious melody fascinates us and excites our imagination. The commanding vocals with their incredible potential upset our senses. Their alternations are unique, as they are flawless in all tones. The sometimes impatient and sometimes calm pace keeps our interest undiminished from beginning to end”

“Den specielle, mystiske melodi fascinerer os og pirrer vores fantasi. Den kommanderende vokal med deres utrolige potentiale forstyrrer vores sanser. Deres vekslen er unikke, da de er fejlfri i alle toner. Det nogle gange utålmodige og nogle gange rolige tempo holder vores interesse uformindsket fra start til slut”

Lyrics of Ghost Coast Choir x Hannah Schneider – Soil in the Ground

There are countless myths and countless hearts
Absent minds and flickering eyes
Preceding this, preceding us
They’re the soil in the ground

They build a home, build a house
Heaps of hope, saturated minds
They turn to circles, turn to towns
Humankind is all around
We’re the soil in the ground
We’re the soil in the ground

And chaos lives in the cracks
It tears apart, wields another start
There in its wake lightning strikes
And then it blooms from the ground

They build a home, build a house
Heaps of hope, saturated minds
They turn to circles, turn to towns
Humankind is all around
We’re the soil in the ground
We’re the soil in the ground

Kitchen sinks, cutlery, tall buildings
all the things they made so we could be
Preceding this, preceding us, all that we could be
Kitchen sinks, cutlery, tall buildings
all the things they made so we could be
Preceding this, preceding us

They build a home, build a house
Heaps of hope, saturated minds
They turn to circles, turn to towns
Humankind is all around
We’re the soil in the ground
We’re the soil in the ground

Hannah Schneider – Mirror Sphere (Spotify)

“Calm and sophisticated Chillwave production, which fills the air with pure vibrating waves. "Hannah Schneider" via her story-telling vocals, invites us to travel back in time, in an era when life came out of the sea waters. Enjoy your trip!”

-Nagamag.com

With a minimalist and sensitive tone, Hannah Schneider's new single Mirror Sphere tells a monumental story about the beginning of life. Mirror Sphere returns to the amoeba's path from sea to land in an organic, ambient pop song. The single is the second single from Hannah Schneider's upcoming album Ocean Letters.

Mirror Sphere will be released on February 25 via Copenhagen label Midnight Confessions

The singer is one half of the celebrated duo AyOwA who have received significant international support from the likes of Huffington Post, The Independent, VICE, The Line of Best Fit, CLASH Magazine and Wonderland Magazine as well as airplay from both BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens as well as BBC Radio 6’s 6mix with Nemone. Independently, Hannah Schneider has been nominated for several music prizes in Denmark, and has performed all over Europe, the UK and the USA. Her spherical voice has appeared on several big Scandinavian TV series, recently in the international nordic TV series Ride Upon the Storm.

The mysteries of nature and the oceans have inspired all the new songs, and the story of Mirror Sphere is told from the perspective of the amoebas - life at the beginning of the earth.

“I wrote Mirror Sphere in the middle of the darkest times of the pandemic. It felt like it was a crucial moment in history - almost as if it was the end of it all. I came to think of the earth's long history, and that everything happens over billions of years - all the way back from the time the amoebas decided to go ashore, to become animals and later humans. We're just part of the long haul, and that’s kind of a consolation!”

Hannah Schneider is obsessed with contrasts. The strength of the vulnerable, the acoustic, the organic in encounter with darker electronic elements. For her, as for many, the pandemic time has given room for new reflections on life, but also a change in her sonic expression:

“This time of isolation and complete quiet sent me back to something basic. A nearness and a simplicity. Creatively, for me it meant going back to my classical roots, and to where the music started for me - at the piano. Mirror Sphere mixes the acoustic sound of my piano and guitar with electronic and spherical elements into an ambient pop song. The production has been turned down, the vocals are done in one take, and these new songs reflect a new process in many ways.”

Mirror Sphere, like the album's other songs, has been created in collaboration with Danish producer Nicolai Kornerup, with whom she also creates music in AyOwA.

“Too artistic to be true, the recent release of Hannah Schneider is full of Neoclassic spirituality. Piano melodies which flow like pure water in absolute balance with the artist's silvery voice. True excellence of harmony for our ears.”

-Nagamag.com

www.instagram.com/riccardocaprarese/Hannah Schneider is known for her playful alternative pop, skillfully crafted with elements from electronic and ambient landscapes. Her music is imbued with themes of melancholia and loneliness that are conveyed with an engaging charisma in her voice. The 2nd single from her coming album is written under the lockdown in 2021. The song is a tribute to the silence, and you hear nothing else than Hannah's voice and her piano. No electronic, no samples, no loops. Simple, beautiful, and intense.

The song describes the phenomenon “black sun” where flocks of birds gather in striking formations, that look completely unreal. The shifting movements are a defence against birds of prey, and looks a little like a heavy fluid shifting - like oil in water.

Creating an intimate connection between the neo-classical and the modern, Hannah Schneider holds up a mirror to a melancholic world while gently decorating it with shimmering electronic embellishments and an escapable truth. ‘We Will Be the Only Sound in the World’ finds the balance between sensual and melancholic as the singer’s engaging charisma compliments her ambient Nordic soundscapes.

Speaking of the song, Hannah Schneider tells us: “This is the first single from my forthcoming album "Ocean Letters"- an album that is thematically inspired by Danish poet Siri Ranva Hjelm Jacobsen and her little book of the same name, that talks about the evolution of the world as it is seen by the Ocean. This song is written from the perspective of a conch shell, telling its stories of the grains of sand and the waves that indented it, playing with the fact that seashells actually are a kind of amplifier of ambient noise. The song was written during a lockdown in Denmark this January, and it reflects the feeling of pandemic stillness - the lack of aeroplanes in the sky, and traffic sounds that usually create eternal background noise.”
