In 2008, actor/singer Alexander Newton was on set in Poland filming his role as a poor Jewish village boy who stands up to the Nazis in the gripping movie Beautiful Blue Eyes. The film was previously unreleased, but now it's coming to big screens with a wide US release from September 9th.
Beautiful Blue Eyes (the song) was written and recorded by Newton from the perspective of his character in the film. He wrote it after the director of the movie, Joshua Newton, asked him to write a song for the film's end credits. During the writing and recording process, he returned to the same state of mind he entered fourteen years ago while performing his role in the movie.
Recording his vocals and guitar at home by himself, Newton would hit record on his MacBook and run to the vocal booth to capture his takes.
Since filming Beautiful Blue Eyes (the movie), Newton has taken time off acting to focus on studying and creating music, art, and screenplays.
