Gifts From Crows – Childhood (Dance of Unknowing) (Video)
“Experience again your “Childhood” happy moments via this Cinematic beauty. Piano melodies and warm pads which fill the air with faded colours. A hidden aspect of our life can be revealed by sound and now is the right time. Will you miss it?”

‘Childhood (Dance of Unknowing)’ is the 2nd of 12 new compositions that will eventually form the highly anticipated album, ‘Stories in Slow Light’.
This new composition is a reflection on childhood – as a parent and as a brother. Life is so much simpler as a child and yet, at the same time, we are barely even touched by it – hence the title ‘Dance of Unknowing’. The piece is a celebration of and a nostalgia for that innocence that we can never return to.
The recording was made at Swallow Studios in Cheshire, England and features musicians from the Northern Film Orchestra on violin, viola and cello.
The video features archive footage of families enjoying fairground rides at Coney Island and other amusement parks in the 1950s. This recently found material was made by the US Government and restored by film-maker Rick Ray who kindly granted me the license to use it in this context.
The post-war exuberance perfectly captures the care-free spirit that I was hoping to express in the music.
