LEEPA – blood

“A delightful journey into a fresh interpretation of Pop from the chilled side. We really enjoyed the carefully crafted track and her angelic voice setting the stage. She speaks her heart in a poetic way that just flows perfectly along this melodic track. ”

“blood” is prime pop music with a guitar line that adds a touch of rock n roll. It’s vulnerability and strength all at the same time, catchy, and potentially your next favorite heartbreak anthem, to which you can scream and cry as well as dance and hop around on your bed. If you are old or young enough to have liked Avril Lavigne as a teenager, you may well feel a touch of nostalgia while listening to it.

“blood” was written after a phone call with a friend about a close relative. The conversation inspired LEEPA to write a song about co-dependency and toxic relationships, as each of us knows them from a different context. The fact that the conversation was about a blood relative of a friend of hers is

reflected in the song title, but LEEPA can without a doubt draw her own parallels to the subject matter: “We all feel the same things, just for different reasons.”

And so with “blood”, she delivers a chorus that is bound to creep underneath every listener’s skin:

“i got problems

cuz you gave them to me

it’s not normal

to never feel seen

don’t know how to love you

when you never loved me

i got you in my blood

soi can’t cut you off”

Not many would suspect a German vocalist behind such a catchy pop banger. LEEPA’s soulful voice, which really unfolds in “blood”‘s bridge, can easily keep up with those of her international colleagues. After all, it’s no coincidence that she’s played on heavy rotation at radio stations like FRITZ, lLive and SWR3 and is highly praised in reviews by VICE, Musikexpress, Nylon, Diffus, 16bars, NOTION, Line Of Best Fit, Earmilk, Fame Mag and so on.
