Neil Nathan – Be Still My Ever Beaten Heart

“-Neil Nathan- has a unique voice that refers to the era of the 80-90s and it can rightfully be compared with the incomparable vocals -Chris norman-. A slow, melancholy track, with a very sincere, slightly dreary atmosphere for real romantics.” (Automatically Translated with Google Translate)

“-Neil Nathan- обладает уникальным голосом, который отсылает к эпохе 80-90-ых годов и его по праву можно сравнить с бесподобным вокалом -Chris Norman-. Медленный, меланхоличный трек, с очень душевной, немного тоскливой атмосферой для настоящих романтиков.”

Inside the Song

This song is about that scary moment just before one risks trusting another and opens themselves up to potential heartbreak. It's got some Ron Sexsmith and Chris Isaak vibes. I hope you enjoy it. This is the second single from my upcoming album, Blue Sky Wide Open, to be released in the Fall

Inside the Recording

This song was written during my travels in England a few years back. We ended up using the demo vocal on the final recording as it captured the mood of the song in those first fresh moments after it was written. The music was recorded remotely during lockdown, bassist Pemberton Roach in the USA, drummer Beto Ferrari & co-producer/guitarist/engineer Thales Posella in Brazil.

Inside the Video

Directors Kevin Shaw, Cole Decker and I were planning on shooting a whole different video in Philadelphia for a different song the weekend the country went into lockdown! We stayed in touch and two years later came around to this idea of an intimate retrospective look inside the mind of the artist through the lens of his past music videos. We projected the video montage on the wall behind me, while I sang this song about releasing another new song into the world. A reflective look back and forward. I plan to release this montage video within the video as well. We had a blast working together. They road tripped to my home one weekend, and I literally moved everything out of my entire upstairs floor, so we could turn it into a music video set. One of my fave moments from the shoot was when they dropped old photos from the various stages of my music career on top of me as I lay on the floor. The album cover is a shot from the video.
