Paul & Pets – Onemanshow (Video)

“When artistry meets talent, great things may happen. Here’s an example of cool, chilling guitar melody decorated with effects and calm vocals. The result is an elegant Lo-fi Pop song, which reveals the creativity of Paul Pfleger.”

Wild days are gone? The Rock’n’Roll circus remains on standby mode?

It may be a sign of the times, as well as a conscious decision; Paul Pfleger had switched from touring with bands like ‘Polkov’ or ‘Stereoface’ to determined studio-solitude just in time before the pandemic started. A fruitful choice for someone who had discovered soliloquy in music as an only child, long before ‘Paul & Pets’ became an outlet to a microcosm that fortunately doesn’t sound lonesome at all. Inspired by ‘Buddy Holly’ and ‘Kraftwerk’, Onemanshow introduces another facet of Paul’s approach towards musical limitation and will be released on February 4 as a second single from an upcoming debut album.

A song and a self-portrait:

As the mist in the music video is starting to clear away, a life size painting suddenly offers an inviting hand; But things don’t seem to be lucid at all when looking through a tropical lens… Is ‘peeping‘ Paul having a fruitful vision? A kiwi-interfaced glimpse into another world?

The song doesn’t really seem to solve any mystery. Instead, it uniquely pays tribute to the art of self-entertainment in times of OnlyFans and Instagram and values intimacy as a private treasure:

“You want everyone to see your beauty and your smile, forget it and just let it be me.“
