“Summer ‘22” is the second official single to be released from Scott the Pisces, after his brilliant first year release of his debut EP ‘Ocean Blue’, independently released March 5th 2021. Produced by Scott, and written by BINX, in a co-written collaboration, “Summer ‘22” harnesses the euphoria of what we’ve all wanted this summer to be. A sense of joy, wander and freedom the world has been stripped from the last few years, following the pandemic.
Scott has been the architect behind all of the “Summer ‘22” promotional material for the release, including the lyric video, artwork, social media content and more. The lyric video is heavily inspired by the polaroid style which Kanye West debuted with his single ‘Through the Wire’.
“I was watching the Jeen-Yuhs documentary and saw how Chike had animated the TTW video, it inspired me to attempt something similar for my own release. Not having enough money to pay someone to do it, I taught myself how to use Final Cut Pro from scratch.” - Scott the Pisces
This is the second musical collaboration between Scott the Pisces and BINX; in 2021, Scott produced her single “Sea Salt”.
Summer 22 is the work of two independent artists attempting to create this year's summer anthem. Despite being produced, recorded, and mixed remotely from their bedrooms, the song has a pristine pop quality expected of a hit. Themes of nostalgia are blended with the yearning that comes from the fear of missing out; this record will surely inspire others to make the most of the summer.
A breath of fresh air, Summer 22 would fit best in any playlist catering to pop music both mainstream
and independent. A blend of electric guitars and synths with a driving rhythm section; the song would be a perfect soundtrack to a road trip.
